How to Apply for Financial Aid

In order to receive a need-based financial aid package, which explains what types of aid you are eligible for, you must:

Be accepted to the University.

Your application file must be complete (including all transcripts, test scores, letters of recommendation, and application fees) before you are considered for acceptance.

File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The earliest date the FAFSA can be filed is January 1 prior to the academic year during which you plan to attend college. You can complete the FAFSA form online. The FAFSA form can also be obtained at any high school or college--including Concordia. Be sure to have the results sent to Concordia University, Portland (Title IV School Code 003191).

Once the FAFSA is submitted and processed, a Student Aid Report (SAR) will be sent to you. This will include your Expected Family Contribution (EFC), an amount the government assumes you and your family can reasonably contribute towards your education. Concordia then uses this figure to determine financial aid eligibility:

Total Cost of Attendance

Tuition, Fees, Room & Board, Books, Personal Expenses
- Expected Family Contribution (As determined by the FAFSA)
DEMONSTRATED FINANCIAL NEED
