Concordia University defines an international student to be a non-U.S. citizen or non-U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder). Exceptions apply if you are currently in the U.S. in one of the following statuses: Refugee, Asylum, Parolee or Confidential Entrant.

You are eligible to apply for admission to Concordia University as an international undergraduate student if you've completed the equivalent of a United States secondary school education (approximately 12 years of formal education starting at age six). You must have either an appropriate diploma or satisfactory results on a leaving examination.

Some secondary certificates represent an education that exceeds or falls short of the preparation required for entering Concordia University. Please refer to Required Secondary School Credentials to find the admission requirements for the country (or countries) in which you studied.

School Records
An official transcript from all previously attended educational institutions (high schools, language schools, colleges and/or universities). An official transcript is a transcript that either comes from the institution in a sealed envelope or is submitted by the student in a sealed envelope with the institution's seal.

Official transcripts in languages other than English must be accompanied by English translations. After review, students may need to have their transcripts evaluated by one of our recognized evaluation services.

Documentation of Financial Support
A Statement of Financial Guarantee completed by the student's financial sponsor and sponsor's bank, dated within 90 days of the date of application, showing that there are sufficient funds to pay for nine months of tuition and living expenses.

Identification Documents
A copy of the applying student's passport. (For students bringing dependents to the US, a copy of each dependent's passport must also be received.)

Health Forms
Completed International Health History and Certificate of Immunization forms (required by Oregon state law). Students will not be allowed to register if the form has not been received by Health Services.

Additional Recommendation
One recommendation form from either a current academic instructor or employer/supervisor.

For Canadian students who are applying as incoming freshmen, an SAT or ACT score must be submitted. The minimum scores are 480 on the critical reading portion of the SAT, or an 18 composite score on the ACT.

English is the language of instruction at Concordia University. You must be able to understand rapid, idiomatic English and express yourself clearly in speech and writing.

If your first language or the primary language spoken in your home is not English, you have 3 options or choices to meet our language requirements:

1. Take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and pass with the following requirements:
   • Receive 71 IBT, 525 Paper-based, or 195 Computer-based (Undergraduate Students). The University TOEFL code is 4079.
   • Receive 80 IBT, 550 Paper-based, or 213 Computer-based (Graduate Students)
2. Take the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and pass with the following requirements:
   • Receive 6.0 (Undergraduate Students)
   • Receive 6.5 (Graduate Students).
3. Enroll at ELS Language Centers and successfully pass ELS Level 112. Graduate and undergraduate students can take one Concordia University course if they successfully pass ELS 109 and can become full-time students once they successfully pass ELS 112.

(A TOEFL score is not required for students from Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore)

Students who are applying during their last year of secondary school should clearly state the name of the certificate they expect to receive and when. They should send an official school transcript with the application and send the original or certified copies of the credentials listed below when available. Admissions may request additional credentials as needed.

Concordia University pays particular attention to the high school curriculum of each applicant for admission. The Board of Admissions looks to see if the applicant has challenged him/herself in the most demanding curriculum available.

Concordia University believes that superior results on any of the following examinations demonstrate a level of achievement beyond most standard high school programs, which is factored into the evaluation for admission. The University recognizes that such high-scoring students are well prepared to enter the University's most competitive programs.

Latin American Countries
Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela: Bachillerato and school transcript; no advanced credit.

Caribbean Countries
Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago: Official General Certificate of Education (GCE) and CECS (Caribbean Examinations Council Secondary Certificate) Official GCE Advanced level passes maximum one year advanced credit.
