Concordia University Law School
Greetings -
Welcome to Concordia University and the web site for our proposed law school. Concordia is a private, Lutheran, liberal arts university located in Portland, Oregon that has prepared leaders for the transformation of society for over 100 years. Concordia has fulfilled its mission and responded to the needs of Portland and the greater region by producing graduates who serve the communities in which they live. Concordia's enrollment has doubled over the past 10 years to 1,700 students and the university is undergoing a physical transformation that reflects its momentum, its quality academic programs, and its commitment to community engagement.
Concordia's history of high quality academic and professional programs and community involvement is not restricted to Portland; we also have a long history with Idaho. Several months ago a few Boise residents, who are also Concordia volunteers and supporters, approached us about an un-met need in Boise; that of an accessible and community engaged law school. After surveying the landscape we decided to explore the possibility of moving forward with expanding our mission both programmatically into legal education and geographically into the Boise community. We have gathered research over the past months and are confident Concordia will fill an un-met need in the Boise community. We believe that Boise will benefit from a private law school, as well as a public law school. There is great demand in Boise to provide part- and full-time legal education to working professionals and other place-bound residents. There is also a need to serve graduates from across the country, including those from the entire Concordia University System and from other Lutheran universities. Having a private option for legal education in Boise ensures that no matter the economic condition of the state and the city, there will be a privately funded option, whose program offerings are distinctive from other regional options.
